imparting. instilling. inspiring.
We are a Christ-centered, private school serving grades K-8. We provide the children of professing Christian parents a quality education where students are instructed with a Biblical worldview. Our teachers develop students’ God-given talents to glorify Him and to serve others!
Heritage Christian School was founded in 1992, born out of the desire of parents who wanted their children to receive a true Christian education. The organization of parents, known as the HCS Association, entrusts the teachers to educate the whole student spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially for the purpose of trusting and obeying Christ.
A letter from our principal
Hello! I’m glad you’re visiting our website to learn more about our school. I have had the great honor of administrating the school since 2019. Before that, I taught for many years in various Heritage classrooms, and my three children grew up in this school. I have been blessed to educate students and serve families in this school off and on since 1998.
While Christian schooling in and of itself is unique, Heritage has the distinction of being small. It is this very smallness that the Lord has used to show His greatness! This school that you’ll find housed in the lower level of Church of the Living Christ along a winding road in the western end of Perry County began with 26 students and 2 teachers. The Lord has shown His great faithfulness to Heritage in providing a rent-free building all these years, and meeting the school’s financial needs with tuition, fundraisers, and donations.
Our size also allows for some terrific work with our students! With class sizes averaging 4-6 students, teachers are able to deliver robust academics in the classroom, provide support in areas of need, and get to know their students well in order to help them develop both academically and spiritually. Teachers
often work with Heritage students one-on-one to maximize student learning.
Heritage Christian is made up of approximately 20-25 families who come together for field trips, fundraising, and fellowship. With this size of a parent community, the opportunities to be involved in activities and service allow for relationships to grow and friendships to strengthen among the school’s families. It’s a wonderful thing to see Heritage parents enjoying each other’s company as they grill burgers at our annual fall fundraiser or worship the Lord together in song with our student body on First Fridays.
While Heritage Christian School is not represented by big buildings or big numbers, our devotion to Christ and His
work in the lives of our students is large. From our curriculum to our special events, we consider everything we do as done for the glory of God; to live the way He calls His people to live. If the Lord is directing you to consider Heritage as home for your children’s schooling, I hope we can meet soon and see if our school is where God wants to do big things in your family!
